Cooper Flagg Just Set a $366K Record. The Market Still Says Wembanyama Is Worth More.

Same auction. Same night. Two one-of-one rookie autographs from the two best young players in basketball.

Cooper Flagg's 2025-26 Topps Chrome Sapphire Autographs Padparadscha 1/1 sold for $366,000 at the Goldin 100 on March 7. New personal record. The highest price ever paid for a Flagg card.

Victor Wembanyama's 2025-26 Topps Chrome Autographs Superfractor 1/1 sold for $488,000. In the same room. Same hammer.

Wembanyama's fifth-highest sale of all time is $122,000 more than Flagg's all-time record. That gap is the market telling you exactly where each player stands in the collecting hierarchy right now.

The Flagg Trajectory

Flagg is having a historic rookie season. 20.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists per game for the Mavericks. He broke the NBA record for most points scored by a teenager twice. First 42 against Utah in December. Then 49 against Charlotte on January 30.

The card market followed every highlight. His first six-figure sale came in December when a Topps Chrome Silver Pack Superfractor auto sold for $180,000. A dual auto with Duke teammate Kon Knueppel hit $168,000 in February. Ten of his cards have sold above $50,000 in his first four months.

Between 1,700 and 3,500 Flagg cards sell on eBay every single day. That volume is enormous. It means the collector base is deep and active, not just a handful of whales chasing trophy cards.

Flagg's Top 5 Sales

$366,000. Topps Chrome Sapphire Padparadscha 1/1. March 7, 2026.

$180,000. Topps Chrome Silver Pack Superfractor Auto 1/1. December 19, 2025.

$168,000. Topps Now Draft Foilfractor Dual Auto with Knueppel. February 19, 2026.

$158,600. Foilfractor PSA 9. January 3, 2026.

$108,000. First Card PSA 8. February 19, 2026.

The Wembanyama Wall

Now look at Wembanyama.

$860,100. Prizm Nebula Choice 1/1 PSA 9. February 22, 2025.

$528,000. National Treasures Logoman Patch 1/1. March 20, 2025.

$516,000. Revolution Kaboom Green. February 19, 2026.

$516,000. Prizm Black Shimmer FOTL 1/1 PSA 9. April 18, 2024.

$488,000. Chrome Sapphire Superfractor 1/1. March 7, 2026.

Wembanyama's ceiling is $860,000. His floor in the top five is $488,000. Flagg's ceiling just reached $366,000. The numbers are not close yet.

But context matters. Wembanyama's record sales came across two full NBA seasons. Flagg has been in the league for four months. A foot injury in February cost him eight games and may have slowed his Rookie of the Year momentum. Kon Knueppel has passed him as the ROY betting favorite at -170 odds.

If Flagg comes back healthy and finishes strong, the gap narrows. If he wins ROY despite the missed time, the next wave of Topps high-end products could push him into the $500K range. The demand is already there. The volume proves it.

The Bigger Market

This is not just a Flagg-vs-Wemby story. The entire NBA card market is running.

Cade Cunningham's Silver Prizm Rookie is up 88% in 30 days. The Pistons are pushing for the top seed in the East and Cunningham is playing the best basketball of his career. His cards were written off two years ago. Now they're surging.

Through early March, 7,025 sports card sales have crossed $10,000. That's on pace for over 41,000 by year end. The 2025 record was 24,994. The market is not just growing. It's accelerating.

What the Same-Auction Test Tells You

When two one-of-one rookie autographs sell in the same auction on the same night, you get the cleanest comparison the market can offer. Same buyer pool. Same bidding energy. Same moment in time.

The market said Wembanyama's 1/1 is worth $122,000 more than Flagg's. That's the premium for a second-year player who's already been validated as a generational talent versus a first-year player who's still proving it.

Flagg's $366,000 is not a disappointment. It's a record. It's confirmation that the market believes in him. But Wembanyama is in a different tier for now.

The question is whether "for now" stays the answer by June.
