McFarlane Toys Lands Massive Sony PlayStation License. God of War, Helldivers 2, Bloodborne, and More Coming.

McFarlane Toys just secured the rights to produce 7-inch action figures across Sony Interactive Entertainment's entire catalog. God of War. Helldivers 2. The Last of Us. Uncharted. Twisted Metal. Ghost of Tsushima. Horizon. Bloodborne. All of it.

The announcement dropped February 13. It's the biggest video game licensing deal McFarlane has landed since the company started seriously expanding into gaming collectibles. And it positions McFarlane as the go-to brand for PlayStation fans who want premium figures of their favorite characters.

First wave hits Spring 2026 with Helldivers 2. God of War follows in Summer 2026. Everything else comes after.

What's Coming First

Helldivers 2 gets the opening slot. Four Super Earth soldiers in different armor sets: B-01 Tactical, CE-35 Trench Engineer, SA-04 Combat Technician, and TR-40 Gold Eagle. All 7-inch scale. Ultra-articulated. Packed with accessories for maximum poseability.

These figures are part of McFarlane's Elite Edition and Gaming Edition lines. That means the same build quality as McFarlane's DC Multiverse figures. Detailed sculpts. Sharp paint. At least 22 points of articulation. Accessories specific to each armor type.

God of War figures arrive Summer 2026. McFarlane hasn't announced which characters yet, but Kratos is a lock. Beyond that, expect Atreus, Freya, and possibly Thor or Odin from Ragnarok.

The Rest of the Lineup

Sony gave McFarlane access to the full vault. That means figures based on The Last of Us, Uncharted, Twisted Metal, Ghost of Yotei, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon, and Bloodborne are all on the table.

No specific release dates for those yet. But the license is long-term, so expect McFarlane to pace these out over the next several years. That's smart. It keeps the line fresh and gives collectors time to actually buy the figures before the next wave drops.

Pricing

McFarlane hasn't announced official pricing. But based on the company's DC Multiverse line, expect $20 to $25 for standard figures. Deluxe releases with larger builds or extra accessories will likely run $30 to $35.

That puts McFarlane in the sweet spot between cheap mass-market toys and premium collectibles. NECA's Ultimate figures run $30 to $45. Bandai's Figuarts line starts at $60. McFarlane sits below both while still delivering quality that adult collectors will display.

What Existed Before

PlayStation figures have always been scattered. NECA made The Last of Us figures years ago, but the line was limited and sold out fast. Medicom did some Horizon and God of War figures in Japan, but distribution was spotty and prices were high. A few one-off releases here and there, but nothing consistent.

This is the first time a major U.S. action figure company has secured blanket rights to Sony's catalog. That consistency matters. Collectors know where to look. Retailers know what to stock. McFarlane can build momentum across multiple franchises instead of hoping for lightning in a bottle with a single property.

McFarlane's Expansion Run

This deal is part of a bigger pattern. McFarlane has been aggressively expanding beyond DC and Spawn over the last two years.

In February 2026, McFarlane acquired QMx, the company behind Q-Figs collectibles. That acquisition brought licenses for Marvel, DC, and other properties into McFarlane's portfolio. Q-Figs relaunch in Summer 2026 with a blind box program and deluxe window box releases.

Before that, McFarlane landed licenses for Mortal Kombat, Warhammer 40K, Five Nights at Freddy's, and Fortnite. The company is no longer just the DC Multiverse brand. It's positioning itself as the collector-grade action figure maker for every major entertainment franchise that's not already locked up by Hasbro or NECA.

Todd McFarlane's Quote

From the announcement: "Being faithful to what gamers already know and love about these games will always be at the forefront."

That's the pitch. McFarlane isn't trying to reimagine these characters or put a stylized spin on them. The goal is screen accuracy. Make the figure look like the character looks in the game. Give it articulation. Pack in the weapons and accessories fans expect. Don't overthink it.

That approach worked for DC Multiverse. Batman figures that look like they walked off a comic page or out of a movie scene, priced at $22.99. McFarlane sold millions of them. Now the same formula gets applied to Kratos and Joel and Aloy.

Collector Reaction

The response online has been strong. PlayStation collectors have been waiting for something like this for years. The NECA Last of Us figures are impossible to find at reasonable prices. The Medicom imports cost $80 to $150. McFarlane filling that gap at half the price is exactly what the market needed.

The biggest question collectors are asking: will McFarlane go deep with these licenses or stick to the main characters? God of War has a massive cast. So does Horizon. If McFarlane only makes Kratos and Aloy, that's fine but limited. If they go deep and give us side characters, villains, and variants, this becomes a must-collect line.

Based on how McFarlane has handled DC, expect both. Main characters first to build the line. Deep cuts later for hardcore fans.

What This Means for the Market

Video game action figures are having a moment. McFarlane has PlayStation. NECA has Nintendo and retro gaming properties. Hasbro has Street Fighter and some Capcom deals. Bandai has Elden Ring and FromSoftware. Funko has everything Funko has.

The audience is there. Adults who grew up gaming now have money to spend on figures of their favorite characters. The nostalgia cycle that works for TMNT and G.I. Joe works just as well for PlayStation exclusives that defined the PS3 and PS4 era.

McFarlane's advantage is price and scale. The company can produce figures at a cost point that makes them impulse buys for casual fans while still delivering enough quality to satisfy serious collectors. That sweet spot is exactly where the video game collectibles market is headed.

Helldivers 2 figures drop Spring 2026. God of War follows in Summer 2026. Pre-orders will go live on McFarlane's site and through major retailers closer to release.

For PlayStation fans who have been waiting for affordable, high-quality figures of their favorite characters, this is it.
